Embers
I mean if I could ever really love a tree it may be this tree!
Earlier in the year I took this shot I did a workshop in Colorado and took a pretty cool dude named Brian way back in on a rough road to photograph a lake that simply didn’t pan out. When I went back to Colorado to shoot fall color later that year I knew I wanted to shoot that lake. Well, it didn’t pan out for me again.
When I returned to my truck and started driving back down the forestry road I noticed a stand of red and purple aspens back in the forest a ways. I stopped and walked in, completely blown away by the colors that I found.
This image is simple. It is simple but it is so beautiful. The softness of the trunk and the way it delicately moves as if it’s dancing. Surrounded by the fiery red leaves and the soft purples and oranges in the background. This small scene amongst so many vivid aspens drew me in and I knew I had to shoot this large expanse of stunning aspens small and intimate.
