Backwoods Oasis
This shot was captured while on vacation to Breckenridge back in 2018. We had hiked the area the day prior and I knew I had to return the following morning.
This shot wasn’t even one I thought I could get, but the mountains can be magical like that.
I started the morning by climbing down a rock cliff to a river. The intent was to photograph a series of waterfalls with an old mine behind them. When the light got to where it needed to be, I got the shot.
Having been down in the river I was unable to see the distant mountain peaks. After climbing out of the gorge I noticed that alpenglow hadn’t started yet. Checking my sunrise times I knew I had a few minutes before it would start, if it were going to. I decided to run to the location photographed and at least give it my best effort to make it in time.
Upon getting into location it had just started and I was able to shoot for about twenty seconds and grab this beautiful image!
