Southern Charm Original
I have a deep love for the southern live oaks you see all across the south. As I looked studied them trying to decide how best to incorporate the feminine figure I knew that there would be no way to have just one person be the trunk of the tree.
Each tree has loads of character and the base of the trunk is always wide with bumps and knots. I knew as I looked at the trees there needed to be more than one woman, which is why Southern Charm is my first image representing the feminine form of two individuals.
I wanted this piece to be a nod to the south and the area that I now call home. There is something special about a live oak tree but there is something incredible about an angel oak. An oak so old that the branches reach out so far they touch the ground then continue to grow up, said to be the wings of an angel.
To finish of this one of a kind piece I draped the branches in Spanish moss to add depth and a character that has not yet been seen in my work.
Southern Charm will only ever be sold as the original, there will be no reproduction prints of this image for sale.
Southern Charm is currently unframed in the size of 24" x 40" and was created using museum quality archival ink on archival grade 184lb. paper.
